Shimek Speedway News!10/14/11 - Website Announcement.
A message from Doug Smith: "After three fun seasons of doing the Shimek website, I have decided to move on to other projects. The running of the site is being turned over to Bambi who also does the updates on Facebook.
I had a good time designing and running the site. Not knowing really anything about kart racing, I learned quite a bit in three years! Since I wasn't able to watch my nephew Devon race in person, doing the site was a fun way of keeping up with his racing.
I'd also like to thank Bambi for all her help over the years. I'm sure she'll do a great job with the site!"

02/11/11 - I.K.F. Rule for 2011 - Message From Bambi
Hello.
I am just letting everyone know that if you are worried about getting an original birth certificate to I.K.F. to race at shimek, don't worry. The IKF paper attached to this web page states that a certified copy will also work. I talked to some racers and it only costs $3.00 at the courthouse to get a certified copy of the birth certificate. Please contact us at 319-878-3772 about any questions on this subject or any other questions. We will be starting our race season the last week of April and every Saturday night. The first few weeks we will start Hot Laps at 5:00pm, Races at 6:00pm and, when it gets warmer, we will move the time an hour later.
Also, if you forget your birth certificate, you can still race and bring it next time. If that is still a problem, just give us a call 318-878-3772. We can make a copy for you and give your original back if you don't want to send the original to IKF.
Thanks Ben & Bambi
We have IKF rules base line for track. We are not an IKF certified track. We are looking into having an IKF sanctioned event sometime in the next few years and that requires a certificate on file. We understand that it is not the most convenient thing, but that is why we put it out early on the web page so it would be easier for everyone. We have the fun of keeping track who sent theirs in to IKF and who brought them to the track since IKF made this new rule. This is just part of the new rules that we will have get used to.
Thanks for your support and understanding that we are just following the new rule. We work hard to make it fun for everyone and by no means are we trying to make it hard for parents. Hope to see you this season.
Bambi
02/11/11 - I.K.F. Rule for 2011
All minors (new and renewing) have to bring an original birth certificate to be sent in to I.K.F. for their file, no copies allowed. Below is a photo of the I.K.F. page sent this winter. Please come prepared with the original birth certificate.
10/01/10 - The Shimek Scarecrow!
